To everyone who attended the 1st Annual Two Feet Project Social Event and Silent Auction and all those who were there in spirit:
Working within a nonprofit organization, and especially working with youth, there are times we struggle to find the strength to continue. Sometimes the days seem too long and the problems too big. Other times, things happen that leave you feeling on top of the world, and you know without a shadow of a doubt that you are part of something that’s worth all the work and dedication. December 6th 2012 was one of those “on top of the world” moments for us as an organization, and it’s all thanks to you. Thank you to every person who showed up on Thursday, to every person who donated their time, to every person who sent words of encouragement before and after the event, and to every person who made a personal sacrifice to put the youth of Kenya first; for all of this we say a heartfelt Thank You!
It’s so easy to forget sometimes, amidst all the work and responsibility, that some things are just bigger than us. Bigger than us as individuals and bigger than us as an organization. Thursday night we were humbled by your support. We had hoped that the event would go over well, that people would enjoy themselves, and that ultimately there would be a ripple effect that would change the lives of so many young people in Kenya. But what happened on Thursday far exceeded our high expectations. Needless to say, as the final person left Redhook we were overwhelmed at what had just taken place. It’s a moment that we as an organization will never forget.
We want to thank you for your belief in us as an organization, but more importantly we want to thank you for your belief in the youth of Kenya; the belief that they will drastically change their families and communities for the better.
We’ve already met as an organization to talk about the next steps going forward. We’re using the momentum that you provided to nail down a lot of exciting things for the upcoming year. We look forward to sharing the work with you, so you can see exactly what your support helped to accomplish.
We’re always telling the young men and women that we work with to remember that they’re not alone in the struggles and triumphs of life. That there are people who care about them and want to see them succeed. On Thursday night we were reminded of that as an organization. Two Feet Project is not alone, other people care, and other people want to see this organization succeed. This reminder will serve to motivate and inspire us to reach more youth. It’s because of your support of us as an organization that we’re able to support the young men and women of East Africa.
We hope you continue to stay involved with us throughout the upcoming year and we look forward to seeing you at the 2nd Annual Two Feet Project Social Event and Silent Auction. Thank You and God Bless!
